God’s obligation

The preoccupations of daily life combined with our weakness in our moral will obscure our inherent light. In recognition of these two realities, and to alleviate their influence on our moral development, God has strengthened our natural light with that of Revelation. Thus, God has made it an obligation upon Himself to instruct men before calling them to account.

Morality in the Quran

And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam’s loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): “Am I not your Lord?” They said: “Yes! We testify,” lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: “Verily, we have been unaware of this.”

Quran 7:172 (Mohsin Khan translation)

He can help

Don’t announce your problems to the world looking for sympathy. Most don’t care, many don’t want to hear them, and some are glad you have them. Address your concerns to God. He’s always there and He can help.

Make it a habit of asking God for guidance in your life choices, whether major or minor.

If you want that guidance, you must be an attentive listener because sometimes God places the words you need to hear on the tongues of people around you.

Shaykh Azhar Nasser

The pens have been lifted

Be mindful of Allah, and He will take care of you. Be mindful of Allah, and you shall find Him at your side. If you ask, ask of Allah. If you seek help, seek help from Allah. Know that if the whole world were to gather together to benefit you, they would not be able to benefit you, except with that which Allah has already prescribed for you. And if the whole world were to gather together to harm you, they would not be able to harm you, except with that which Allah had already prescribed for you. The pens have been lifted and the pages are dry.

Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)

Arrested development

A child-like man is not a man whose development has been arrested; on the contrary, he is a man who has given himself a chance of continuing to develop long after most adults have muffled themselves in the cocoon of middle-aged habit and convention.

Aldous Huxley

Know thyself. A maxim as pernicious as it is ugly. Whoever studies himself arrest his own development. A caterpillar who seeks to know himself would never become a butterfly.

Andre Gide

I’ve always believed in the adage that the secret of eternal youth is arrested development.
